Youth

Like ships scouring uncharted waters,
Will they go on and heed their teachers?
Or, will they remain where they are now,
Give up the fight with a graceful bow?

Who can best define which way they'll go,
Or undoubtedly spell what they'll do;
For we may teach all the truth we know,
They will accept, yet may not follow.

They need the light of truth, Rizal said,
A lighted torch for their path, as guide;
To discern the facts, and then decide,
Which knowledge should be kept and applied.

Only then can the youth become the hope,
When they have learned to uphold the right,
And defend justice with all their might,
"Coz honor is always worth the fight.
